Ms. Eva Jechimer
A brief CV
Eva Jechimer is a Primary Teacher in a bilingual school in the Community of Madrid. She is also an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education of the University of Alcalá. This combination provides a valuable perspective to her investigation in the field of second language teaching (English) in CLIL contexts. Her experience in the Primary classroom led her to the need to change the methodology of teaching English in bilingual programs. Thus, she began to research on the Literacy Approach that proposes a more meaningful language teaching in bilingual contexts as it integrates the language skills organized around oral and written texts.
Literacy Approach, una clave para analizar y mejorar el desempeño de alumnos y profesores en entornos CLIL en Educación Primaria
In Primary Education called bilingual in the Community of Madrid, teachers with a major in English usually teach in this language Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and other disciplines in addition to the English Language. The main concern of teachers lies in the teaching of content subjects, considering language as a second level subject. The Literacy Approach restores the importance of language in bilingual environments and proposes techniques that are based on the use of real texts (written or oral) to achieve deep and coordinated learning with the rest of the knowledge areas.
