Dr. Jes\u00fas Paz-Albo<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Biodata<\/span><\/p>\n Jes\u00fas Paz-Albo Prieto holds a Degree in English Philology from Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid and a PhD from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. He worked as a Primary and Secondary education teacher in the United States and served as the World Language Department Chair at John Hope College Preparatory High School<\/em> from 2004 to 2010. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos where he coordinates the Field of Didactics and School Organization and teaches in the Bilingual Degree of Primary Education (English Concentration) and the Master\u2019s Degree in Teacher Training in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching. He served as the director of the Master’s Degree in Leadership and Management of Educational Centers at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos from 2013 to 2018. His research interests focus on educational technologies, teacher training, student development and bilingual education. His work has been recognized with the extraordinary PhD award, the first prize of the \u201cII Premios Profesores Innovadores URJC online\u201d and the award finalist for the \u201cPremios de Investigaci\u00f3n CSI-F Educaci\u00f3n Madrid\u201d for the research project with the Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences<\/em> (University of Washington).[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Socrative as an engagement tool in the bilingual higher education classroom<\/span><\/p>\n Large classroom learning is a reality in many universities and research into the efficacy has been ongoing to improve student engagement in the classroom. This is most noticeable among bilingual higher education classrooms where it seems there is a weaker student engagement, ineffective interactions and decreased depth of learning. At Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, some instructors encourage active engagement interventions that can increase students\u2019 learning and personal development.
