 <\/p>\n

PhD. Tuncer Can is currently teaching at Istanbul University-Cerrahpa\u015fa, Hasan Ali Y\u00fccel Faculty of Education, ELT Department. He completed his MA at Istanbul University in 2004. In 2005, he was granted a Fulbright Scholarship and he spent a year at Syracuse University, NY, USA. He completed his Ph.D. at Istanbul University in 2011. Dr. Can has taken part in six EU Erasmus+ Projects, also related to immersive environments, teacher training and foreign language learning (1) CAMELOT, (2) YouRNI, (3) TABLIO, (4) GUINEVERE, (5) ARTICULAN and (6) YouALLs. Dr. Can has also edited and co-authored the \u201cLess is More English Coursebook Series\u201d and \u201cFull Circle Skills Series\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Education through the arts for inclusive learning in multilingual classrooms<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In this presentation, we will present the ArtiCULan approach to sustain responsive and stimulating <\/span>teacher-child interactions through <\/span>interdisciplinary artistic workshops.\u00a0 ArtiCULan \u2013 Art, Time, Culture and Language \u2013 is an Erasmus+ KA201 project aiming to offer to all <\/span>children, including multilingual and refugee,<\/span> the opportunity to be involved in meaningful and rich artistic experiences. The team will present the Assessment Tool, a tool designed to offer a set of principles and indicators to <\/span>support teachers in the design, observation and reflection upon the most relevant features underlying creative, expressive and meaningful experiences. We will discuss the value of arts education for qualitative interactions in multilingual classrooms and refugee classes. Throughout the presentation, we will share videos and examples illustrating key features of the workshops. We will also share lessons learnt throughout our project, welcoming participants\u2019 ideas and suggestions.<\/span><\/p>\n

ArtiCULan was created by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts PXL Hasselt (Belgium), the University of Porto (Portugal), the Istanbul University – Cerrahpa\u015fa (Turkey) and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain).
